Who owns SSE?
SSE is an energy company based in the United Kingdom and floats on the FTSE100 under the TIDM 'SSE' with a market capitalisation of £13.4billion.
The majority of SSE's profit comes from the company's 10.5 GW of power generation, unregulated electric and gas supply businesses, and its regulated networks business, which includes electric and gas distribution and transmission systems. The firm is also involved in smaller related businesses such as gas storage, home energy services, contracting, and oil and gas production.
Their domestic energy business, which like other "big six" supplies, has struggled of late resulting in SSE selling this arm of the business to up and coming energy giant – Ovo Energy for a reported £500m.
